Last year the Foothills Championship was a big disappointment for our girls as we performed poorly (5th) and never really bounced back from that. Thus, I saw today's meet as one for redemption and that is what we did. Although we would have liked to win today's meet we finished where, on paper, we should have - 2nd. The Queensbury girls have a tremendous program and are always among the best in the state. Losing to a class A team like Queensbury is something I can accept. I will not accept l...

Although we did not get the victory we were hoping for, it was a great day for our girls as we established ourselves as one of the best teams in New York State. Prior to today's meet we were ranked 5th in New York State for class C girls and today's eventual meet winners, Skaneateles came into the meet ranked # 2 in Class C. Thus, we knew we would have our work cut out for us. In the past we would have settled for 2nd, but as we have done all season, our girls accepted the challenge and rose ...

Today was a very good day for our entire program as a whole. Running without one of our top 5 girls (Sarah Naple) our team was still able to rise to the challenge as they brought home their 2nd title in a row. Going into today's meet I was nervous that the girls would let Sara's absence effect their performance. Luckily for me and them it did, but in a good way. The girls really stepped up as each girl looked to fill the void. The girls are gaining confidence in themselves and, more importan...

Today was a very big day for us! Up until today we have competed in three invitational's and been very successful with runner-up and 3rd place team showings on the girls side (all of our quote, unquote losses have been to schools highly ranked in the state and bigger than us.). However, victory eluded us. As cross country is such a mental sport I knew a victory today was crucial for us. The girls realized this as well and showed the desire to win right from the start as they attacked the race...

Today's invitational was this year's state preview as Queensbury will be the host of the New York State Public High School Cross Country Championship on November 9. As a result, today's meet attracted the best of the best to Queensbury to compete and our girls once again established themselves as one of the top teams in New York State. The Division 3 race that we competed in consisted of many teams ranked in the state and many of whom were ranked higher than our pre-season 18 ranking. However...

Today was a good day for our team. Since both teams from Hudson Falls (boys and girls) were incomplete we ran as packs as I challenged some of our younger and inexperienced runners to keep up with our top runners. We know that in order to be successful during Championship season we will need to be strong from our number one runner to our number 14 runner. Thus, today was very useful for us. Our runners our learning to put aside their individual goals to ensure that our team goals are accompl...

Our young team is beginning to show a lot of potential and, more importantly, maturity. Despite a few setbacks, some injuries, and being placed in the large school race our team stayed positive and once again raced above my expectations. Last year, these same little setbacks stopped us from finding success, but this year, the team seems to be using this as fuel. I am so proud of how they all ran today and look forward to seeing just how good this team can be as the season progresses!

Today was an exceptional day for our program. The girls once again established themselves as a serious contender as our young squad finally started to let their talent show. Last season many of these same girls let their confidence get in the way of their potential. Thus, the goal going into this season was to be mentally tougher. Today the girls did just that. They went above my expectations as all ran 1- 3 minutes better than they did a year ago. 5 in the top 18 is something to be very prou...
