Foothills Championship

Posted by [email protected] on October 27, 2013 at 9:10 PM

Last year the Foothills Championship was a big disappointment for our girls as we performed poorly (5th) and never really bounced back from that. Thus, I saw today's meet as one for redemption and that is what we did. Although we would have liked to win today's meet we finished where, on paper, we should have - 2nd. The Queensbury girls have a tremendous program and are always among the best in the state. Losing to a class A team like Queensbury is something I can accept. I will not accept losing to teams we are stronger than and today I didn't have too. This is important for us as next week's section 2 Championship meet approaches. We are headed in the right direction and our ultimate goal is becoming more clear. The pack running is great but If we want to get back to states we will have to be a little bit better than we were today (our top five girls need to be under 20:00) and, more importantly, we have to believe without a doubt that we can win. On the boys side we took a small step forward as we were able to beat some teams that beat us earlier in the year. We also had many individual improvements from a week ago on the same course. However, like the girls we will still have to be faster if we want to get any to states. The good news is that we have almost 2 weeks to get prepared. I think we will be ready on November 1 and am confident our ultimate goal can, and will, be reached!
