2014 Season Preview

Last year was a great one for our program as our girls’ team returned to the New State Championship after a 2 year absence and Greg Bogdan culminated his career with a podium finish at states. This year, we look to build on last season success. On the girls side we return everybody and add even more depth. However, a repeat Section 2 championship will not come with ease. Class C has grown and now we will have 28 teams looking to dethrone us. Unlike last year, we will now have a bull’s-eye on our backs as the 27 other schools now know we are the team to beat. Consequently, we will have to train even harder and run in even tighter groups if we want to keep that bull’s-eye out of reach. I will look to my seniors to keep all motivated. Like last year we won’t have the front runners, but I do believe our pack will be amongst the best. The girls need to realize this and work together more than ever before. If they can run as a team we will be hard to beat. On the boys side our numbers are once again very low. We only have five runners, meaning all are scorers. We also lost 3 time state runner, Greg Bogdan to graduation. However, I believe we will be improved from a year ago as all 5 are good runners. They just have to stay healthy. As all of these runners are young I believe this year will be a build and learn year. In the end, I believe we will surprise many and am certain Alex Hitrick will. He has put in the summer work and I look for him to fill in the shoes of Greg.
