Section X Pre-State Invitational

This year Section X is the host of the New York State Cross Country Championship. Thus, we packed our bags Friday and made the long trip out to Canton to take part in the annual pre-state invitational. As always, these pre-state invitational races bring out many of the best teams in the state as all who wish to contend for a state title take the opportunity to see what the course has to offer. This year’s course is a great course but is very demanding as we discovered today. The high winds did not help, but in the end, I believe we fared very well and, hopefully, our athletes learned a lot. On the girls side we continued our strong season with a second place showing. Only class B power, North Shore, kept us from winning our 3rd invitational tile in a row. Among all Class C schools running today we were 1st which vows well for as the season moves forward. Like we have done all season our pack stayed strong and pushed us to the top. That is what is great about this year’s team. Number 1 through number 7 is interchangeable. We can have a runner have a bad day and know that someone else will step up. On the boy’s side we continue to show vast improvement. We finished mid pack today with a 9th place finish and are closing the margin on teams that beat us earlier on. The young squad is starting to adjust and showing lots of guts.
